Sparkling Display of Innovations at the Essen Motor Show:
Manufacturers, Tuners and Motorsport Sector Will Present
World and German Premieres
It will be possible to see a sparkling display of innovations at the 45th Essen Motor Show: There will be world premieres and German premieres not only from the automobile manufacturers and the tuners but also with regard to the vehicles designed for motorsport. A total of 17 world premieres have been announced up to one week before the start of the Essen Motor Show, mainly from the tuning and motorsport sectors. These will be supplemented by several German premieres.
At BMW, attention will focus on the world premiere of the BMW M Performance accessories for the new BMW 3-series touring car (available as from April 2013). The exhibits on display will also include: the new BMW 125i, the BMW 535i saloon and a BMW M3 coupé – all of them equipped with the maximum scope of BMW M Performance products.
Ford will have several innovations on display – e.g. the latest sporty advertising sign, the 250 bhp Focus ST as a five-door vehicle in series trim and in two tuning variants. Other newcomers: the new compact SUV Ford Kuga which will make its market debut at the start of 2013, the new Ford Transit Custom, the freshly modified Ford Fiesta and the recently updated Ford Ranger Wildtrak with a four-door double cabin.
Amongst other exhibits, Mini will show accessory products from John Cooper Works. For example, it will be possible to see a Mini Cooper S which is comprehensively geared to racing-oriented performance in the exterior, in the interior as well as in the drive and chassis areas. A Mini John Cooper Works GP with 218 bhp will provide an appropriate greeting to the fans on the outdoor site.
The exhibits presented by Opel will include a German premiere with the Adam model (small car, available as from the start of 2013). Other innovations will be: Mokka (small SUV) and Zafira Tourer (seven-seater compact van).
At Renault, the spotlight with regard to the series cars will be on the new Clio of the fourth generation. The small car has been available since November. As far as motorsport is concerned, there will be two premieres: firstly, the Renault 1.6 NEC Junior (a one-seater racing car with 140 bhp) and, secondly, the Twingo R1 for rally rookies for a new constructors trophy.
With the Rapid, Skoda will show the new middle-of-the-range car which has been available since October and, at the Czech automobile manufacturer, is located between the Fabia and the Octavia. Moreover, the exhibits will include two studies on the basis of the small Citigo car which came on to the market in 2012.
Subaru, the world’s largest manufacturer of all-wheel-drive cars, will present eight individualised sporty exhibits. For the first time in Germany, it will be possible to see the WRX STI S206 model variant in the “Nürburg Challenge Edition” of which merely 100 vehicles were built and which has only been available in Japan until now.
Toyota Motorsport (TMG) will have two new cars for motorsport on display, i.e. the GT86 CS-V3 (a cost-favourable racing version of the Toyota GT86 which is intended for private drivers and was launched on to the German market in September) and the TMG Yaris R1A (a novice’s car which complies with FIA-R1A regulations and is intended for rally drivers).
The tuning sector will show a lot of premieres in 2012 too. However, it will probably be the case this year as well that really all the innovations will only be revealed when the Essen Motor Show has opened. The premieres announced in advance include the following:
Abt Sportsline will show a refined VW Beetle and the AS3 on the basis of the new Audi A3.
AC Schnitzer will come with the new BMW 3-series touring car and the Raptor on a Mini basis.
